Sarah Polley

Canadian actor who has a lovely first film.

Away from Her (2006) -- Turns out, Sarah Polley can direct. This young lady gives some screen time to old folks for a change: beautiful, beautiful old folks, but old folks nonetheless. Julie Christy is great, of course, but Gordon Pinsent was the winner for me, playing a realistic professor (hard to do apparently) whose care and worry always wins out over his more problematic past. An extremely graceful movie.
