Director of haunted old house movies, both silent and talkie.

The Bat (1926) -- A movie seen more these days, probably, because of its resemblance to the Batman comic (which came later). The movie itself seems okay for a silent movie and some of the bat stuff is cool, but most of it is like an old haunted house stage play (it was based on one) and doesn't do much for me in the end. Roland West remade this as a talkie under the title The Bat Whisperers.
