The one who directed Return of the Jedi.
Return of the Jedi (1983) -- The one that everyone hates because of the Ewoks. They are a little much, but it's some of the other things that bothers me. For one, the "comic" moments like the keeper of the monster crying or the "touching" moments like the Ewok crying at the dead Ewok. Sure, this is a little boys' movie, but what little boy likes those things? (Things are downright NC-17, of course, when compared to the later Phantom Menace.) Little problems aside, once the movie gets cookin', it gets cookin', and the final confrontation with Darth and the Emperor is one of the best scenes in the trilogy. The 1997 Special Edition makes a few unnecessary moves, like the extended song and dance sequence, but some would argue that the ending is much preferred (though others miss the Ewok "Yub-Nub" song. (See Irvin Kershner for the predecessor, The Empire Strikes Back. See George Lucas for the prequel, The Phantom Menace.) A
