Happy Days (2000) -- Although Samuel Beckett's Happy Days is one of my favorite of his plays (second only to Waiting for Godot), this movie suffers from the same kind of static shots and inability to use the camera to any effect that plagues a lot of the "Beckett on Film" series. When Rozema is close in on Winnie (played well by Rosaleen Linehan), things are more or less fine, but there are all those shots from far away for no good reason (no good reason to hold them that long anyway). The movie is okay because the play is, but I would rather just read it. B
