1984 (1984) -- Appropriately filmed in 1984 (some scenes were even shots on the dates stated in the novel), this is a really good version of the Orwell book. In fact, you may as well just watch the movie it does such a good job of getting across the idea of Big Brother, the Thought Police, and all the other concepts Orwell was after. Features John Hurt, Richard Burton, and two hours of unapologetic grimness.
