A guy who draws chalkboard football plays all over his movies.
Mrs.
Brown (1997) -- Begins with a somewhat typical plot of a royal who comes out
of her shell when a commoner speaks to her as a human and friend (sort of the
British version of Driving Miss Daisy), but when it gets more
complicated, it doesn't add up to much. We don't truly, for example, know
what Mr. Brown's motivations are in the end. Remains interesting
throughout, however.
Shakespeare in Love
(1998) -- Overall fun stuff, though it doesn't seem to capture the complete
cleverness of Tom Stoppard.
Proof (2005) -- Usual boring stuff about the apparent behavior of
mathematicians and insane people. Dumb play dialogue and bad characters.
I didn't manage to finish watching.
