He was born Albert Einstein.
Defending Your Life (1991) -- Very funny, but also very entertaining in terms of its imagination concerning the afterlife (or between life) and very sweet and inspiring in a way that foreshadows Groundhog Day. Rather than being flaky about what constitutes as "good" or "bad" for whether you're able to move on or not, Albert Brooks has a very clear focus on the idea of fear. Fear is the thing that holds us back from having a wonderful life, and he drives this message home in a way that no one's exactly done before in a movie. Charming performances all around from Brooks, Meryl Streep, and Rip Torn. This is what a romantic comedy should be.
